Here's a Quick Note About The
Breeder...
Clyde & Janice
Castleberry, as owners of Safari Ltd. a division of Triple C Ranch, Inc., have a long history in
the animal industry. They were raised on ranches in Central Texas and have been involved with
animals from showing sheep and cattle, when in school, to importing and raising Simmental cattle
from the late 1970’s through the early 1990’s, conducting Simmental Cattle Auctions all across
Texas, as well as exporting Simmental Bulls to Mexico during the 1980’s &
90’s.
In the mid 1980’s they
began to introduce Exotic Animals to their ranch beginning with the Llama and soon adding the
Emu, Rhea, Ostrich, and Cassowary.
Janice is very particular
about her "babies." She is one of the few exotic animal breeders that makes each of the
babies "her own" before she sells them. (There have been several that have become permanent
additions to her home because she couldn't bear to part with them.) Consequently, the pet you
receive from Castleberry Safari will already be "warmed up" and ready to bond to
you.
Fun Facts About
The Coatimundi (Coati)
If you want an exciting
Exotic Pet with personality, the Coatimundi is a must have! Once hand raised they are very lovable
and want any and all the affection they can get! Babies are born in early spring and late
summer and at three weeks of age they are ready to be pulled from their mother and bottle
fed. When they are pulled we have our vet check them out for health issues, have them declawed
and their canine teeth removed. Coatis are known as the hog-nosed coon, snookum bear and
Brazilian Aardvark. They like to dip their noses into substances like soap, perfumer, candles
etc. and then rub it into their tail. They are double-jointed and the snout is extremely
flexible and can be rotated up to 60 degrees in any direction. (Makes for some cool faces!
:)
By the time the Coatis are
old enough to go home with you, they are very active and they want to be near you at all times
and will follow you wherever you go. At around three months of age they will begin eating food and
by five to six months should be able to be weaned from the bottle all together.
One "Fun Fact" to take note
of, Coatimundis will continue taking the bottle as long as you want
to bottle feed them. Coatis get along and enjoy being around and interacting with other pets but
caution should be taken with smaller animals and birds as they instinctively think of them as
food.

Fun Facts About The
Lemur
Found in the wild only in Madagascar. The term lemur was selected by early
biologists because the calls of some elusive lemur species brought to mind the cries of the spirits
of the dead, or lemures, from Roman mythology.
Their long, bushy tail, is ringed in alternating black and white transverse
stripes, numbering thirteen to fifteen each for both colors, and always ending in a black tip. (Now
your going to catch yourself counting the stripes on every lemur you see!).

Fun Facts About The
Kinkajou
The Kinkajou, a rain forest mammal, is also
known as the Honey Bear. Their slender five-inch extrudable tongue helps the animal to obtain
fruit and to lick nectar from flowers, so that it sometimes acts as a
pollinator.
Although captive specimens will avidly eat honey
(hence the name “Honey Bear”), honey has not yet been observed in the diet of wild
kinkajous.
The characteristic that makes the Kinkajou a desireable pet is that they are very loving and
loyal. Once they bond with their owner, you will be hard pressed to find them separated
for very long.
